The 2023 Bocce Club Competitive Tournament Has Been Rescheduled!
The Fun Competitive Tournament that was scheduled for February 26th did not go as planned, but the participants met and enjoyed a great lunch and camaraderie. The weather was the problem, a trifecta of wind, water, and cold. Several people had squeegeed the courts, and we all held out as long as we could for the temperature to rise, but instead of sun, we got more rain. A vote was held between the three options of cancel, delay, or reschedule. Reschedule won overwhelmingly, to the relief of all.
This tournament will be played on Sunday, March 26th at 2:30,
which is the same day as the Spring session awards potluck.

I hope all had an enjoyable summer wherever you spent it, and above all, you and your family spent it safe and out of harm’s way. Welcome back to all previous members and to all new members, I hope you enjoy this great game of Bocce, like I believe you will, and the new friends you will meet, but never lose sight of our purpose and that is, we are all here to have a good time and meet new people.
We hope to see you all at our annual Wine and Cheese “Kick-Off” event on the 30th of October at Sisk Park at 1pm.
Over the summer a few of our Board Members were required to withdraw from their Bocce Board activities due to health and/or personal reasons. A special “Thank You” to our Bocce Club Secretary, Patty Hart; Tournament Director, Mike Buscaglia; Publicity Director, Larry Vacin and Equipment Manager, Harry Bicchieri for their outstanding service to the club and the members. Additionally, Dave Sinkbell, our previous Vice President stepped down and accepted the vacated Equipment Manager’s position. We also welcome back Sue Donovan to the Board of Directors. Sue has accepted the Tournament Director position, one that she had occupied in the past.
As a result, we need to fill these remaining positions on the Board for the 2022/2023 Season and beyond. We are looking for Volunteers from our membership and would hope that our members would step forward and join us. New Board members bring the innovative ideas that continue to make enhancements to our Club. We rely on members to volunteer and support our club so that we can continue this great tradition. Please consider how you might be able to contribute.
All positions are elected for two-year terms and may be re-elected to successive terms with the approval of the Board of Directors. The Board meets once per month, September thru April, on the 3rd Thursday from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM in the Cottonwood Phoenix Room.
For anyone who is interested in taking on a position, or would like to discuss any of these positions further, please send an email to siskbocce@hotmail.com with your name and phone number, and a Board Member will reach out to you to discuss the position requirements further. Or, simply approach any Board member at the Wine and Cheese, or any other time, with your interest.
