August 2021 Splash Article: Sisk Park Bocce Club has New Website
As we approach the hottest part of the summer, I'm seeing fewer people enjoying the amenities of Sun Lakes. But, before you know it, as the cooler weather approaches in the fall, we will be looking forward to getting back to our normal routines here in Sun Lakes. We currently have two Board positions that need to be filled for the 2021/2022 season. The Board positions of Vice President and Social Director are currently vacant. It is critical for these positions to be filled so that we can continue to function as a Club. In addition to the duties listed below, Board members are expected to attend Board meetings, in person or by video chat, once a month between September and April.
The following is the job description for each available position:
Vice President (VP)
The Vice President shall act as President in the absence of the President. The Vice President shall assist the President and Board members in any way needed to ensure the efficient functioning of the club. The VP shall assist at the annual CWPV Open House, Wine & Cheese Kick-Off, and the January Pot Luck/Awards events. The VP will also perform other duties as assigned by the President. The VP may succeed as President upon vacancy of the position, based on approval of the Board majority and a vote by general membership, and then becomes Immediate Past President upon stepping down as President.
Social Director (SD)
This position can be shared by more than one person. Our current Social Directors are a couple, and they will be available to help the new Social Director(s) learn their duties.

The SD is responsible for purchasing food, drinks and party supplies for the Club social functions to include the Wine & Cheese and end of session Pot Lucks, as approved by the Board. This position is for a one-year term and may be re-elected to successive terms.

January 2021 Splash Article
The Sisk Park Bocce Club Board of Directors has competed a survey of last year's members to determine their interest in participating in league play for the second half of the 2020/2021 season. While there was considerable interest, an equal number of members raised concerns about playing due to the Pandemic. Therefore, the Board voted unanimously to forgo any form of organized league play until the 2021/2022 season.
The recent news promising near term effective vaccines against this virus will assure our safety when we are re-unite and hopefully "return to normal" at our Annual Wine and Cheese final registration event in October '21. Bocce Club registration announcements will be made in the Splash later in the year.
In the meantime, The Board of Directors wishes all our Sun Lakes neighbors, and their families, a very happy Holiday Season and most of all a Healthy and Happy New Year as we all look to put the unprecedented events of 2020 in our rear view mirror.
